Man '˜slashed' during disturbance near Princes Street

A 32-year-old man has been injured after a disturbance in the city centre.

The victim was believed to have been slashed on Waterloo Place, near Princes Street, shortly before 1pm today.

Emergency services are at the scene and drivers have been urged to avoid the area.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police are in attendance at an incident on Waterloo Place, Edinburgh where a 32-year-old man was injured.

“He is being treated by the Scottish Ambulance Service at the scene.

“A significant area of Waterloo Place is currently cordoned off and the public are advised to avoid the area for the time being.

“Inquiries into the full circumstances are on going and at an early stage.”
