Man's body found in Bathgate burn, police confirm

Police have confirmed that a man’s body was found in a burn in Bathgate this morning.

The area around Boghead Burn, near Linkston Way, was cordoned off following the discovery at around 7am.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.55am on Thursday, 18 March, 2021, we received a report of the body of a man in a small area of water near Linkston Way, Bathgate.

“Inquiries into the circumstances are ongoing and, as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Pictures from the scene this afternoon showed a large area around the burn had been taped off by police, with multiple police vehicles and officers in attendance.

The Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed they were called to the scene this morning.
