Meadows incident: man arrested and woman taken to Edinburgh hospital with facial injuries

A man has been arrested and charged following an incident at a park in the Capital which left a woman in hospital.

Officers were called to The Meadows after reports of an assault between a man and a woman at about 8.15pm on Monday, 26 October.

A 43-year-old woman had to be taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to be treated for injuries on her face, and a man, 37, was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

Witnesses to the incident said a number of police vehicles were in attendance along Melville Drive, near to where the disturbance happened.

A police spokesperson said: "We received a report of a disturbance at The Meadows in Edinburgh around 8.15pm on Monday, 26 October.

"A 43-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to facial injuries.

"A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
