Midlothian crimebeat July 19-25

Here is your latest weekly round-up of crime in Midlothian, for July 19-25, as reported by Police Scotland.

DALKEITH:

On Thursday, July 22, at Whitehill Grove, a 47 year old man conducted himself in a threatening and abusive manner, shouting and swearing. The man was arrested and a report is being submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Friday, July 23, at Old Edinburgh Road, a 15 year old male was part of a group of youths causing a disturbance at Morrison Eskbank Road. He was traced nearby and under the influence of alcohol. Whilst being searched he was found in possession of a knife.

NEWTONGRANGE / MAYFIELD:

On Monday, July 19, at the A7 through Newtongrange a 50 year old man failed to give way to other traffic causing a collision and thereafter failed to stop. The man was later traced and found to have had no insurance. A report in relation to Careless Driving and other Road Traffic offences has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Monday, July 19, at Easthouses Golf Course, two females aged 16 and 17 were, following an extensive search of the wooded area, found drunk and incapable of looking after themselves. Both were conveyed home and issued with Recorded Police Warnings.

GOREBRIDGE:

On Tuesday, July 20, at Stobhill Road a 32 year old man was stopped whilst speeding. Subsequent checks found he was not insured to drive the vehicle. His passenger, a 26 year old woman who was the owner of the vehicle, was also charged with allowing him to drive the vehicle without insurance. A report is being submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

LOANHEAD:

On Wednesday, July 21, at Straiton Retail Park, a 34 year old man was caught shoplifting. Enquiries also found he was driving a motor vehicle which he did not have permission to drive and that he did not hold a valid driving licence.

PENICUIK:

On Monday, July 19, at Kentigern Mall and John Street a number of youths aged 14-16 were traced after carrying out theft by shoplifting. When stopped by the police all provided false details. The same youths were also found to be responsible for a number of other offences in the area. The youths were later traced and cautioned and charged for the offences.
