Midlothian crimebeat June 1-7

Here is your weekly round-up of crime in Midlothian, for June 1-7, as reported by Police Scotland.

BONNYRIGG:

On Sunday, June 7, officers stopped a vehicle, which they observed being driven erratically on Polton Road. The 35 year old female driver failed the roadside breath test and was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. She was released to appear at court at a later date.

On Sunday, June 7, officers on mobile patrol observed a vehicle being driven erratically in the Old Coal Avenue area. On seeing the police vehicle the driver stopped and attempted to make off. After a short foot chase the 29 year old male driver was apprehended by police and required to provide a specimen of breath. The man failed the roadside breath test and was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

PENICUIK:

A 55 year old man was issued with a recorded Police Warning following a theft that took place at Penicuik Estate on Wednesday, June 3.

On Saturday, June 6, police received a report of a man driving a black Landrover Defender in the Pentland Hills, near Penicuik. Police attended and traced a 27 year old man who was subsequently issued with a conditional offer in connection with driving elsewhere other than a road.

ROSLIN / ROSEWELL:

On Wednesday, June 3, a 30 year old man was charged after being observed by police in the High Street area of Roslin in breach of bail conditions. A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Saturday, June 6, a call was received in relation to a group of people who were refusing to leave the grounds of premises in the Roslin area. On officers attending they engaged with the group where it was established that they had travelled some distance to the area, that they all lived at different addresses and had travelled in only two vehicles. When the Covid guidelines were explained to them, they became challenging and refused to adhere to the advice given. The six people within the group were issued with fixed penalty tickets in connection with Breach of Covid-19 guidelines.
