Here is your weekly round-up of crime in Midlothian, for September 7-13, as reported by Police Scotland.

DALKEITH:

On Saturday, September 12, whilst dealing with a separate incident at the McDonalds restaurant at Hardengreen, officers observed a 23 year old man urinating against the side of the building. On speaking with the man he became threatening and abusive and was arrested. A report has been submitted the Procurator Fiscal in relation to the offences.

On Saturday, September 12, at Salters Road, Dalkeith, officers observed a vehicle being driven at speed and in a dangerous manner. On stopping the vehicle it was found that the 21 year old male driver was unfit to drive due to the amount of alcohol he had consumed and was disqualified from driving. The man was arrested and appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court in relation to the offences.

On Saturday, September 12, police officers were on patrol in Ironmills Road, Dalkeith when they spoke with two women aged 23 and 24 sitting in a car. They were subsequently the subject of a drugs search and both were found in possession of cannabis and given a Recorded Police Warning.

On Thursday, September 10, officers were called to Tescos, Hardengreen, Dalkeith in relation to a female shoplifter. A 21 year old woman was charged with stealing a bottle of wine and given a Recorded Police Warning.

On Thursday, September 10 police were called to Morrisons, Eskbank Road, Dalkeith regarding a report of a woman driving a motor car whilst drunk. On attending officers traced a 51 year old woman who subsequently failed the drink driving procedure. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Tuesday, September 8, at High Street, Dalkeith, a 37 year old man was stopped by officers whilst driving a motor car. Enquiries found he did not have a valid insurance policy in force for the vehicle. The vehicle was seized and a report submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

NEWTONGRANGE / MAYFIELD:

On Tuesday, September 8, a 71 year old man attended at the Newtongrange Dental Practice, Station Road, Newtongrange, where he acted in a threatening and abusive manner when told he would have to book an appointment. On police arrival he was issued with a Recorded Police Warning.

GOREBRIDGE:

On Tuesday, September 8, at The Crescent, Gowkshill, Gorebridge, a 23 year old woman acted in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting and challenging another woman to fight. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

BONNYRIGG:

On Saturday, September 12, officers attended at Andy Kelly View, Bonnyrigg, following a report of two men having been assaulted. A 29 year old man was subsequently arrested and bailed to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date. 

On Wednesday, September 9, at Polton Avenue Road, Bonnyrigg officers stopped a 17 year old male whilst driving a motor car. Enquires found he was a provisional licence holder and had no insurance in force for the vehicle. The vehicle was seized and a report submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

LOANHEAD:

On Friday, September 11, at Clerk Street, Loanhead, a 22 year old man was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice for behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.

On Thursday, September 10, at Costco, Costkea Way, Loanhead two women aged 31 and 32 year old were stopped by staff suspected of having stolen a large quantity of alcohol. Officers attended and enquiries revealed that the women had committed a theft and submitted a report to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Wednesday, September 9, at Straiton Retail Park, Loanhead, two men aged 30 and 19 were traced by officers selling televisions from the back of their vehicle. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal

On Monday, September 7, a 31 year old man was stopped by staff at Next, Straiton Retail Park, Loanhead having left the store despite failing to pay for goods. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to the theft.

PENICUIK:

On Sunday, September 13, whilst on patrol officers noticed a disturbance outside the Cuiken Inn, Edinburgh Road, Penicuik.  A 29 year old man was issued a Recorded police Warning for acting in threatening and abusive manner and a 28 year old issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice for assault. 

ROSLIN / ROSEWELL:

On Saturday, September 12, a drugs search warrant was executed at an address in Pentland View Terrace, Roslin. A quantity of cannabis was recovered resulting in the occupant being reported to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to the offences.

On Friday, September 11, police were called to Roslin Glen regarding reports of fires being set. Whilst in the area police had occasion to search a 40 year old woman and found cannabis in her possession. She was given a Recorded Police Warning.

On Wednesday, September 9, at the B7003 at Rosewell, officers found a 45 year old woman asleep in the drivers seat of her vehicle whilst the engine was running. Enquiries found that she was unfit to be in charge of a vehicle due to the amount of alcohol in her body. A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
