Missing woman, 82, from Edinburgh found safe and well

An elderly woman with dementia who went missing on Saturday night has been found safe and well.

Margaret Wilson, 82, disappeared from her Lanark Road West address in the Currie area on Saturday evening at 5.20pm.

Police were asking for anyone with information to come forward, while also imploring local residents to check their gardens and outbuildings in case she tried to seek refuge from the cold with temperatures under zero degrees.

Edinburgh Police Division: “We are pleased to confirm that 82-year-old Margaret Wilson, reported missing in the Currie area yesterday, was traced safe in the city centre around 11.20am today.

“Officers would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone who supported our earlier appeal for information.”
