Murrayfield police incident: man's body found in Water of Leith near Edinburgh stadium

Officers were called after the body was found in Water of Leith near Saughtonhall Avenue, not far from the sports stadium, at about midday on Thursday, 8 October.
One concerned resident cycling past the scene reported a heavy police presence in the area.

Hide AdA staff member at Sphere Hair Salon said she witnessed several police cars driving past the business in Saughtonhall Avenue.
She said: “We weren’t sure what was going on but we have seen loads of police vehicles driving up and down the road.
"I assumed it must have been something serious because officers have been in the area for a while now.
"No police have come to talk to us but there are certainly many in the area.”

Hide AdPolice are still trying to identify the man, whose cause of death remains unknown at this time.
A police spokesman said: "We received a report of a man's body found in the Water of Leith, near Saughtonhall Avenue, Edinburgh, at around 12.05pm on Thursday, 8 October.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man and the full circumstances of his death."
