Musselburgh Shell garage targeted in early-morning robbery

A robber targeted a petrol station in Musselburgh in a dawn attack on Tuesday morning.

Local police arrested an unnamed man at the Shell garage, on Edinburgh Road, after receiving a report of a robbery at around 5:55am.

One eyewitness, who requested not to be named, said that at least three police cars and a van were dispatched to the petrol station as the crime unfolded.

Details of what was stolen are not yet known, but a Police Scotland spokesperson told the Evening News that its officers remain at the scene.

The Shell garage is still open for business.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a garage premises on Edinburgh Road, Musselburgh, at around 05.55am on Tuesday, 2 March, following a report of a robbery.

“A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

They added: “A police presence remains at the scene.”
