A woman who left her phone along with mounds of litter and waste in the Pentland Hills has called the park to get it back.

The visitors to the Pentland Hills left behind piles of rubbish and waste to be cleaned up by the park employees.

The Pentland Hills Regional Park posted the pictures of the site saying: “Our officers have been cleaning up some disgusting messes today, at both Bonaly and Harlaw.

“If you see groups making a mess in the hills (or any other kind of anti-social behaviour), please call 101 if after 4.30pm, and let the police know.

“Try and give an exact location.”

They added that the phone found on site would be handed into Wester Hailes Police Station, and asked: “could the lady who called wanting it back please go there to pick it up.”

The Pentland Hills is not the only target for littering as there has been widespread outrage as The Meadows was pictured with rubbish strewn across it after Scotland enjoyed the hottest day of the year.

Videos showing mass brawls as well as litter and waste have emerged, with Edinburgh City Council leader Adam McVey commenting: “Waste teams do a brilliant job & work really hard to keep our City clean.

“This isn’t about bin emptying, this crap was deliberately left by people in the middle of the park who thought it was someone else’s responsibility to clear up after them.

“It’s isn’t.”
