Police believe mystery witnesses to a fatal Bathgate crash could hold the key to finding out what happened

Police have reissued an appeal after a crash involving three cars and two motorbikes killed 37-year-old Fiona Reid.

The crash happened around 4.30 pm on Monday, June 6 on the A7066 in Bathgate.

Fiona Reid was the driver of one of the cars and died from her injuries sustained in the crash.

Sergeant Paul Ewing, of Lothians Road Policing said: “It has now been three weeks since this crash happened and we are appealing to anyone that has any information surrounding the incident that has not yet come forward.

“In particular, we are looking to speak to two woman who were standing in the car park of a hardware store on the A7066 who may have witnessed the crash.

“We are also keen to speak to a cyclist who was wearing a short sleeved bright blue t-shirt, white helmet and a man wearing all black who was walking along the footpath towards where the crash took place.

“I would ask that if you are any of the people described or have any information relating to the crash to get in contact with officers.

“Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 2397 of Monday, 6 July, 2020."

Fiona's family shared a statement through Police Scotland at the time which said: “We are shocked and heartbroken at the loss of Fiona. She was a beautiful, caring woman who was loved by many.

“The family would like to extend their thanks to everyone who has contacted them with kind messages of support, it just shows how much Fiona was admired.

“We would also like to thank the emergency services and other motorists at the scene who assisted Fiona.

“This has been a major shock to us and we would appreciate our privacy at this time.”
