Police hunt motorist who smashed car into Edinburgh park bench

Police Scotland is trying to trace the driver of a car – and its passenger – following an incident in the Capital on Saturday night.

Officers were called to East Pilton Park just before 6.30pm following reports that a car had driven into a bench.

An eye-witness told the Evening News it was thought to be a silver Ford Focus and that a strong police presence – including dogs – was quick to the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.25pm on Saturday, January 16, officers received a report that a car had crashed into a bench in Pilton Park, Edinburgh.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and to trace the driver and passenger of the vehicle."
