Police launch witness appeal after 63-year-old man killed in accident on Queensferry Road

Officers said the accident happened around 9.10pm on Tuesday.

Witnesses or those with dashcam footage of a fatal road crash on Queensferry Road on Tuesday night are being asked to come forward by police.

Ian Meldrum died after he stepped off a bus and was involved in a collision with a car near the junction with Parkgrove Avenue and Drum Brae North.

Police Scotland said the accident happened around 9.10pm yesterday and involved a Nissan Note car.

The 63-year-old Edinburgh man was pronounced dead at the scene and the road was shut for around four hours, opening just after 1am.

Sergeant Jennifer Forbes of Edinburgh Road Policing Unit said: “Enquires into this crash are ongoing. We have already spoken to a number of people who witnessed the incident but would appeal to anyone we haven’t spoken to regarding this to please contact us.

“I would also urge anyone with dashcam footage to get in contact with police.”
