Police remained at a Fife industrial estate on Monday morning following the discovery of unidentified human remains the night before.

On Sunday evening, police were called after human remains were discovered at an industrial estate located on Whitehill Road in Glenrothes.

It was reported that a large police presence had surrounded the area at Whitehill Industrial Estate and that the area was sealed off.

Forensic officers are expected to be on site throughout the morning to assist with enquiries which police have advised are still at an early stage.

No further update from Police Scotland was available on Monday morning regarding the discovery.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 5:20pm on Sunday 27 September 2020, police were called after unidentified human remains were found at an industrial estate on Whitehill Road in Glenrothes.

"Enquiries are at an early stage."
