Portobello beach: Police called to deal with 'large disturbance' as Edinburgh swelters in mini-heatwave

The police have reported that they are still at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.

Police were called to a ‘large disturbance’ at Portobello beach on Friday afternoon as the Capital saw temperature highs of 28C.

Onlookers reported seeing over ten police cars, wagon and motorbikes heading to the area.

Pictures show a large police presence on the beach.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a large disturbance on Portobello beach in Edinburgh around 3pm on Friday, 31 July, 2020.

"Officers are currently in attendance, there are no reports of any injuries and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances."
