Chief Inspector Neil Mitchell, Local Area Commander for East Lothian, said, “Drugs and violence can destroy lives and communities.

"‘County Lines' is a term used to describe gangs and organised criminal networks involved in exporting illegal drugs (mainly Heroin, Cocaine and Crack Cocaine) into one or more rural/coastal areas, using dedicated mobile phone lines or 'deal lines'.

"They exploit children and vulnerable adults to move and store the drugs and money, often using coercion, intimidation, violence (including sexual violence) and weapons.

"If you suspect drug dealing activity in your area please contact police on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
