Princes Street Gardens incident: Man arrested over alleged rape of 16-year-old girl in centre of Edinburgh

A man has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl at a popular beauty spot in the heart of Edinburgh.

The incident occurred in Princes Street Gardens, late on Saturday evening (June 5).

As reported earlier in the Evening News, Police Scotland received the report of a serious sexual assault at 9.50pm on Saturday.

Now, a man has been arrested and police say an investigation is ongoing.

A statement read: “A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing,” a spokesperson for Police Scotland said.
