Queen's Drive: Puppy killed in hit and run after chasing a bird in Edinburgh beauty spot
An appeal has been launched after a young Spaniel was hit by a car in Holyrood Park.
The police are appealing for assistance in tracing the vehicle after it failed to stop after hitting the dog on Queen’s Drive around 7pm on Friday, April 9.
The nine month old spaniel had spotted a bird and started to chase it when it was hit.
It died later of its injuries and police are asking anyone who may help identify the vehicle involved to come forward.
Sergeant Stuart Powell said: “The dog’s owner had been walking in Holyrood Park, when the dog started chasing a bird. She was struck by the car on Queen’s Drive and the driver of the vehicle didn’t stop at the time.
“I would ask any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, or anyone with information that may help us identify the vehicle involved to contact officers through 101 quoting reference number 3198 of 9 April.”
