Residents evacuated after suspicious fire in East Edinburgh

A property on Newcraighall Road in Edinburgh has been sealed off by police, with command units in attendance.

Police said their activity at the site followed a suspicious fire at the house on Thursday December 5, when nearby residents had to be evacuated as a precaution.

Officers believe the fire was started deliberately and further inquiries are under way.

A spokeswoman confirmed to the Edinburgh Evening News that the area had been cordoned off because it was part of an ongoing criminal investigation.
