Robbers put Lothian man in hospital after stealing mobiles, cash and motorbike

A Midlothian man had to be hospitalised after being attacked in a robbery this weekend.

Detectives said two thieves broke into a house in Oak Crescent in Mayfield, Dalkeith, at 1:50am on Saturday, and assaulted two 23-year-old men.

The crooks then stole hundreds of pounds’ worth of property, including mobile phones, cash, and a motorbike.

One of their victims had to be taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to be treated for their injuries.

Police are now hunting for the two male suspects, as well as the stolen Rieju Marathon 125 motorcycle with a red engine and L-plates.

The first suspect is white, in his 30s, around 6ft tall, with black hair, wrinkled skin and a tattoo on the left side of his neck.

Police said he was wearing a black face mask, a grey C.P. Company woollen hat, black jumper and black jogging bottoms at the time of the attack.

Their second suspect is in his 20s or 30s, with a slim build. He was wearing a black top and black bottoms and was carrying a backpack.

Officers said they were last seen pushing the stolen motorcycle away from the scene of the crime along D’Arcy Road.

Detective Constable Marion Anderson, of Dalkeith CID, said: “This was a frightening experience for the victims and our enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible.

“Anyone who may have seen the suspects either before or after the incident are urged to contact police.

“We would also ask anyone with CCTV in the area or who may have seen the stolen motorcycle to get in touch.”
