Seamill Beach incident: Scottish beach reopens after bomb squad carries out controlled explosion
A beach in Ayrshire has reopened after a bomb disposal team carried out a controlled explosion on Tuesday afternoon.
Seamill beach was closed by authorities after an unsuspecting member of the public stumbled across a cylindrical object in the sand at around 12:30pm.
An Army bomb disposal unit was dispatched to the beauty spot from Edinburgh to assess the suspected ordnance.
The Coastguard confirmed that the team carried out a controlled explosion on the object later in the day.
The beach is now open for visitors again.
