Shopkeeper fights off knife-wielding robber in Edinburgh store

A KNIFE wielding robber is being hunted after attempting to hold up a city convenience store.

The incident happened around 10.50am yesterday at the Day-to-Day shop in Duart Crescent.

A man was working inside when a male entered and presented a knife before demanding money. The shopkeeper struggled with the suspect who then made off empty-handed.

Police are appealing for witnesses. The suspect is described as white, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 9ins with a slim to athletic build and wearing a dark hooded top, dark jogging bottoms and black and white trainers.

Detective Constable Joyce Gunderson from Corstorphine CID said: “The shopkeeper showed great bravery to prevent the store being robbed and we are now pursuing various lines of inquiry to trace the suspect.

“If you recognise his description, or have any information that can assist with this investigation then please contact police immediately.”
