'Suspicious' fire at Queen Margaret University as bus diversions in place

A fire in the early hours of Sunday morning at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh is being treated as suspicious by police.

Cops were called to the blaze at around 2.10am this morning (Sunday) and enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

Police have confirmed that they are treating the fire as suspicious and that nobody was injured.

Lothian Buses tweeted to say that diversions were in place for the number 30 bus was diverted, saying on their website: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Queen Margaret University Campus until further notice”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a fire at a Queen Margaret University building on Queen Margaret University Drive, Musselburgh, around 2.10am on Sunday, 5 July, 2020.

"Nobody was injured however the fire is being treated as suspicious. Enquiries are ongoing."

Scottish Fire and Rescue confirmed they were called at 1.47am, with appliances from Dalkeith, Newcraighall and Marionville attending the scene, along with a height appliance from Tollcross.

Fire fighters left the scene at around 4.25am.
