Teenager charged after two elderly women robbed of jewellery in same afternoon in Edinburgh
The 17-year-old was arrested and charged after a second victim came forward following a public appeal
A teenager is set to appear in court charged in connection with robbing two elderly women of their jewellery in two separate incidents in the west of the city.
The initial incident took place on Sunday, June 14, when a 93-year-old woman was approached by a man on Stevenson Road in Gorgie at around 2.10pm.
After being asked for directions and another member of the public who stopped had left the scene, the woman was then robbed for her jewellery before the man left in a vehicle.

Following a police appeal about the incident, a second woman came forward to report that she had also been robbed in similar circumstances.
The second incident saw the 78-year-old woman also stopped for directions by the suspect on Shandon Place in Slateford before being robbed of her jewellery.
The 17-year-old male was arrested and charged in connection with both incidents. He will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday, July 3.
Detective Constable Lindsay Johnston said: "I would like to thank those members of the public who assisted the victims at the time and for their support during our investigation.
"As a direct result of our public appeal into the Stevenson Road incident, a second complainer came forward to report what happened to them in extremely similar circumstances in the Shandon Place area.
"We remain committed to tackling crimes of dishonesty and bring offenders before the courts."
