Teenager charged with causing death of nurse Jill Pirrie
A TEENAGER has appeared on petition at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today charged with causing death of nurse Jill Pirrie by dangerous driving.
Dylan Jenkin, 18, made a brief appearance in private before Sheriff Pamela Bowman. He was also charged with failing to stop when signalled to do so by police and other road traffic offences.
No plea or declaration was made and the case was continued for further inquiry. Jenkin was remanded in custody.
His appearance in court follows the death of the 33-year old nurse who was knocked down by a car in Kingston Avenue in the city last Thursday evening. Ms Pirrie was making her way home after her shift at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
