Thief breaks into Edinburgh pharmacy and steals prescription drugs

A brazen thief broke into a city central pharmacy and stole hundreds of prescription drugs.

The crime happened at the Tollcross pharmacy in Home Street, Edinurgh at about 6am yesterday (May 25).

About 1,000 diazepam tablets were stolen along with metrazapin and olanzapine.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident or any information that might help them find the culprit.

Officers have also reminded people not to consume prescription medication that does not belong to them.

Detective Sergeant Ross Nicol, based at Gayfield CID, said: "We're appealing to anyone who has any information about the break-in, noticed suspicious behaviour or someone suddenly potentially selling a large quantity of tablets to contact us."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 0482 of 25 May 2020 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
