Three arrested after man assaulted and robbed on Royal Mile

Two men and a woman were arrested and charged yesterday.

Three people have been arrested and charged in connection with the assault and robbery of a 43-year-old man on Edinbrugh’s Royal Mile.

Police Scotland confirmed that two men, aged 34 and 31, and a woman, aged 29, were taken into custody outside The World’s End pub, on the corner of St Mary’s Street.

A witness said the trio were stopped outside the pub and questioned by officers in a patrol car at around 5pm on Thursday (April 23), before backup arrived to arrest them.

“After about 20 minutes of what initially appeared to be words of advice, the cuffs came out and off they went,” the witness said.

The trio are set to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (Friday, April 24).

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed that: “two men aged 34 and 31 and a woman aged 29 were charged in connection with the assault and robbery of a 43 year old man at The Royal Mile in Edinburgh on Thursday 23 April, 2020.

“All three are expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Friday 24 April, 2020.”
