Three drivers caught speeding - two over 90mph - on roads around Edinburgh during Covid-19 lockdown

Three drivers were caught speeding – in two cases at more than 90mph – on roads around Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Road Policing tweeted details of the incidents which took place on three roads in the Capital which, due to the Covid-19 lockdown, are much quiter than normal.

In one case a driver was clocked travelling at 95mph on the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass, in a 70mph zone.

Another driver was caught speeding at 92mph on the M8 road, also a 70mph zone.

And a third driver was clocked doing 62mph in a 40mph zone on the A8 road.

Road policing officers had been carrying out speed checks on these roads yesterday.

Three drivers were stopped and reported to the Procurator Fiscal for exceeding the legal maximum speed limits.
