Traffic diverted on Edinburgh's West Approach Road following car crash

Lengthy tailbacks have been reported in central Edinburgh following a road traffic accident.

Emergency services, including at least one police vehicle, have attended the scene at the city's West Approach Road where a car has sustained considerable damage after veering off the main carriageway.

Photographs from the scene show the vehicle, a white Honda, in a wrecked state.

The condition of the occupants of the car is not yet known.

Police officers have closed the section of road at the underpass heading westbound towards Westfield.

Road traffic heading to Westfield is being diverted towards Angle Park Terrace.

Local bus services have also been affected and are being diverted via West Approach Road at Fountainpark, Henderson Terrace, Gorgie Road and Westfield Road.

Services subject to delays include Lothian Buses nos. 22, 30, X27 and X28.
