Two 19-year-old men charged for attempted bike thefts from Edinburgh's Heriot-Watt University

Two 19 year-old men have been charged in connection with the attempted thefts of pedal bikes from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.

The incident happened during the early hours of this morning, January 4 at Heriot-Watt’s campus on Riccarton Mains Road.

Police were contacted by security staff at the University after they observed a vehicle and its occupants acting suspiciously.

Officers traced the vehicle nearby and both men were charged.

The two young men both aged 19 were also charged in connection with minor drug offences.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Two 19-year-old men have been charged in connection with the attempted theft of pedal bikes from Heriot-Watt University, Riccarton Mains Road & minor drugs offences which occurred during the early hours of Monday 4 January 2021.

“If you know who is stealing bikes or selling them please call 101.
