In a statement released on social media, a force spokesperson said road checks would continue to be carried out across Scotland.

They said: “A 22-year-old man and a 55-year-old man have been arrested for driving whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol. Both have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Police Scotland take a zero tolerance approach to drink driving and any such incidents will be dealt with robustly. As part of our local policing plan commitments, we will continue to proactively carry out road and speed checks across the county.”
