Two men have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after police received reports of a ‘disturbance’ near The Pleasance at around 1.40pm this afternoon.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland has confirmed that two men have been seriously injured.

They said: “We received a report around 1.40pm on Friday October 16 of a disturbance on Pleasance in Edinburgh.

“Two men, aged 44 and 35, have been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. A third man, aged 44, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and the road is currently closed between West Richmond Street and New Arthur Place.”

It was reported that at least two ambulances attended the scene along with several police vehicles.

Emergency services closed down the roads earlier this afternoon causing some Lothian Bus services to be diverted.
