Concerned resident Helen Ryan spotted the damaged swing on Thursday while walking in the park with her granddaughter.

She said: "I visited the park today and was disgusted to find when in the playing park that some scum had set fire to one of the children’s swings.”

Cllr Donald Wilson said: “It is extremely disappointing to see deliberate damage to our playpark at Saughton Park, which is not only disruptive, but costs money to rectify.

“This kind of a behaviour is completely unacceptable and it’s a real shame that children visiting the park have to suffer because of the damage caused by a few. I would encourage anyone who may have information on the incident to contact the Police.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
