The hit and run happened on the West Approach Road on Friday, November 6 around 4.40pm.

A car struck a six year old boy who was later taken to hospital with facial injuries.

Police Scotland confirmed that a 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged.

The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
