Woman assaulted in Portobello when playing Pokemon Go

A woman playing Pokemon Go was assaulted in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The 24 year-old and her friends were sitting on a bench in the Portobello area, when a car - playing the Pokemon theme tune through the stereo - pulled up beside them and two men got out.

One launched a bottle at the victims leg, while the other filmed the incident.

The victim is understood to have been left shaken by the ordeal.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: “We received a report of an assault in the Portobello area around 1.50am on Wednesday August 3.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
