Young boy hospitalised after suspected hit and run in Edinburgh street

A young boy has been taken to hospital following a suspected hit and run collision in an Edinburgh street.

The incident happened in Drumdryan Street in Tollcross at about 2pm on Sunday, March 7. Police said the child was taken to the Sick Kids hospital for observations but details of his injuries are not available.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called following a report that a man and a young child (male) were involved in a hit and run collision on Drumdryan Street, Tollcross, Edinburgh.

"The child has been taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh for observations.”

"The man was not injured.

"Officers are at the scene and enquiries are continuing.

"Drumdryan Road is closed in both directions and local diversions are in place."

Bystanders in the area reported seeing a police van and multiple police cars on the road following the incident.
