Crockart takes to the water to help boost good causes

EDINBURGH West Liberal Democrat MP Mike Crockart is to take to the water tomorrow to help boost two good causes.

He will join members of the Queensferry branch of the Scottish Coastal Rowing Project to row a one-mile route in their boat, the Ferry Lass, as part of the WWF Blue Mile campaign, which is raising money to protect marine environments.

The Scottish Coastal Rowing Project was formed last year to encourage rowing in Scotland’s seas and lochs.

The Ferry Lass, built in Queensferry by two local joiners and other members of the community, was launched in April this year.

The Queensferry club has taken part in seven rowing regattas in their first season including their own very successful regatta which took place on the same day as the RNLI open day in June 2011.

The next step for the club is to build a second boat and the club is busy fundraising for the kit and materials required.
