Dad-of-three scarred for life in unprovoked attack

AMONG those cab drivers who have been physically abused while behind the wheel is Alan Gunn, who was left disfigured after an unprovoked attack.

The 47-year-old driver was pummelled “30 or 40 times” by Nathan Mackay outside the then 21-year-old’s home in Gorgie in July 2009.

When the father-of-three returned to work months later, a brick was thrown at his taxi on his first night.

“That just crumbled me,” he told the Evening News last year.

Today Mr Gunn said: “I used to work all night, but now I come home earlier.

“I still believe that 99 per cent of passengers are good, honest people but I’m a lot more wary now.”
