Dawe hails Armed Forces Day and wedding efforts

City leader Jenny Dawe has paid tribute to the way the city handled both the recent Armed Forces Day and the wedding of Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall.

In her monthly leader’s report, Cllr Dawe thanked all those involved in delivering Armed Forces Day at the end of June. She said: “The Armed Forces Day parade was widely televised and the city looked wonderful, demonstrating again Edinburgh’s excellent record in delivering high-profile, large-scale events. I would like to extend my thanks to all those involved in planning and delivering Armed Forces Day.”

She also said that the council had worked closely with police at the royal wedding, coordinating road closures, medical cover, stewarding, removal of bins, dealing with noise complaints, crowd management and public safety issues.

She added: “My thanks to all involved in ensuring that the wedding, which attracted a crowd in excess of 6000, was a huge success.”
