Defence lawyer faces charges

A CRIMINAL defence lawyer has appeared on petition in Edinburgh Sheriff Court charged with taking or attempting to take mobile phones and drugs into Saughton Prison.

David Blair-Wilson, 53, from Dunfermline appeared from custody yesterday in front of Sheriff Paul Arthurson QC.

No plea or declaration was made on his behalf and the case was continued for further inquiry. Blair-Wilson was released on bail.

The case follows a Lothian and Borders Police operation at the prison last Thursday.
