Edinburgh and Fife residents spot formation of unidentified 'military-looking' jets flying above

Several jets, which appear to be military-owned, were spotted flying above Edinburgh, East Lothian and Fife this afternoon.

The aircraft were seen in the skies above Edinburgh and East Lothian at around 1pm. They then headed north-west, towards Fife.

According to Flight Radar, a US Boeing KC-135R stratotanker was being escorted by fighter jets in the area.

A spokesperson for the Royal Air Force has confirmed that the incident was not RAF activity.

It is believed that the jets may be US Airforce planes.
