Dog killed in house blaze

A WOMAN has been taken to hospital after a fire in which her dog died.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Bellalmond Crescent, East Whitburn, West Lothian, at around 3pm yesterday.

The blaze was contained in the living room of the house and four firefighters managed to extinguish it, Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said.

The female occupant was led to safety and taken to St John’s Hospital in Livingston to be treated for smoke inhalation.

Firefighters tried to revive the dog, but it died at the scene.
