Hide AdProsecutor Katie McNair said: “He told police that Marec, who was Polish, set it up. He told them: ‘I didn’t take anything to do with them. I put water in them, that’s all’.
“He said his house had been broken into in July and he needed the money. He said Marec was going to give him money.”
Greer, 22, appeared for sentence yesterday. He earlier pleaded guilty to producing cannabis at his home in Barbauchlaw Crescent, Armadale, West Lothian, on November 25 last year.
Darryl Lovie, defending, said: “He did it to make some money because he was struggling financially.”
Sheriff Graeme Fleming sentenced Greer to 80 hours of unpaid community work.
