Dozens of firefighters called to fires at separate Edinburgh high rise blocks within two hours

Dozens of firefighters have been called out this evening to deal with fires at separate high rise flats in Edinburgh.

Four fire engines and a height appliance were sent to a small fire in the landing of a ninth floor flat in Inchgarvie Court, Pilton, at about 5:45pm. The builing is 10 stories high.

No one was hurt as a result of the fire, which was extinguished just before 6:10pm.

Another four fire engines and a height appliance were called to Castleview House in Craigour Place, just before 7:10pm, following reports of a fire in a ground floor bin room.

A fire service spokeswoman said crews were still attending but that everyone was accounted for and there were no injuries.

In relation to the fire at Craigour Place, a police spokesman said: “Police were called around 7.15pm on Friday, 27 March, following reports of a fire at a multi storey building in Craigour Place, Edinburgh.

“Officers are assisting the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Craigour Road at Mordunvale Road is currently closed.

“There are no injuries and fire is not being treated as suspicious.”
