Duddingston Loch rescue: Emergency services called to help pair stuck in water

Emergency services have been called to help two people stranded at Duddingston Loch, it has been confirmed.

Police and firefighters have been called to the Edinbugh beauty spot, near Arthur’s Seat, after two people became stuck in the water shortly before midday.

Officers confirmed they had been called to assist firefighters in the rescue at around 11.41am today.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 11.55am on Wednesday, March 3 to reports of two people who had become trapped in marshland near Duddingston Loch, Edinburgh.

"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances and two water rescue units and both casualties were safely recovered and handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

"Crews currently remain in attendance."
