Edinburgh flight emergency over engine failure
Flight KL1277 took off from Amsterdam Schipol airport, but turned back just before crossing into UK airspace at around 7.30am this morning after declaring an emergency.
It then returned safely to Amsterdam airport where it landed at around 8.30am.

Hide AdA spokeswoman for KLM told the Evening News that the flight had landed safely in Amsterdam.
She said: “The flight experienced engine failure. The safety of our passengers and crew was not at risk.
“All passengers will be able to complete their journey on another plane at around 11am.
“KLM is investigating the cause of the engine failure.”
The spokeswoman added that if pilots deemed it safe, flights experiencing technical difficulties would return to Amsterdam to ensure that faults to could be repaired by the airline’s engineering staff.
