Edinburgh flight returns to Tenerife after medical emergency

A Ryanair flight bound for Edinburgh had to return to Tenerife after a passenger suffered a medical emergency.

Flight FR6622 left Tenerife South around 7pm but was only in the air for 20 minutes when a passenger suffered a possible heart attack. The plane turned and landed at Tenerife North Airport for the person to receive treatment.

The condition of the passenger is unknown at this time.

The others on the flight have been told that they have at least a three hour wait for other stuff before they can return to Edinburgh.

Passengers received an email from Ryanair which “sincerely” apologising for the delay.

“We are committed to providing on time services for all passengers,” it read, “but exceptionally there are situations outside of our control that affect our flight operations

“Passengers’ well-being is important to us and we try our best to minimise the inconvenience of flight disruptions while complying with EU Regulation 261/2004.

“We again apologise for the delay of your flight.”
