Edinburgh man killed in A7 crash named

An 87-year-old man has been named following a fatal crash on the A7 as Edinburgh man, Gerald Kelly.

Police in the Borders confirmed 87-year-old Gerald Kelly, know as Gerry died on Sunday April 29.

Mr Kelly was driving a white Honda Civic on which was reported as having left the road and collided with a tree at around 7.50am.

Police and emergency services attended, however, Mr Kelly was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Inquiries are currently ongoing and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Sergeant Andy Gibb from Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit based at Dalkeith said: “Our thoughts remain with Mr Kelly’s family and friends as they come to terms with their loss.

“I would appeal again for anyone who saw the vehicle immediately prior to the collision, or who witnessed what happened, to come forward to help with our investigations.

“Those with information are asked to contact us via 101, quoting incident number 1169 of 29 April.”
