Edinburgh police investigating car fire close to Roseburn cycle path
Second burnt-out car found nearby
Police are investigating after a car fire close to Edinburgh’s Roseburn cycle path.
Officers attended the scene on Tuesday evening and the fire was put out, but police said they were still looking into what had happened.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9pm on Tuesday, 17 January, 2023, police were called to the Sauchiebank area of Edinburgh, following a report of a car fire. The fire was extinguished and enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
About an hour earlier another car was found burnt-out on the Roseburn viaduct, which forms part of the cycle path. A passer-by sent a picture to the Evening News, but police said they were not aware of it.
The Roseburn path is a former railway line which is now popular for walking and running as well as cycling and forms part of the national cycle network.
