Edinburgh Zoo panda Tian Tian artifically inseminated again

EDINBURGH Zoo bosses are hopeful they may finally soon welcome a baby panda after Tian Tian was artificially inseminated.

She has failed to mate with Yang Guang since the pair arrived in the Capital in 2011.

Artificial insemination took place after experts agreed Tian Tian had reached entered her short breeding window. It is the fourth time this technique has been tried.

Iain Valentine, director of Giant Pandas, said: “It will be sometime before we known if Tian Tian has initially conceived and then if she goes onto fall pregnant.

“There are many hurdles to go through yet and until birth takes place, all giant panda conceptions are complex and uncertain.”
